Have you heard of the Soong sisters and their legacy in modern Chinese history? Did you know that all three sisters studied in women's colleges in the United States? Is a women's college your best choice to study in the United States?
In honor of Women's History Month, EducationUSA and Cultural Program of the Beijing American Center invite you to a presentation about the Soong sisters and women's colleges in the United States, followed by a panel discussion about the role of women's colleges in career and leadership development. The feature speaker is Dr. Vivia Fowler, currently Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Wesleyan College at Macon, Georgia. On July 1, 2017, Dr. Fowler will assume her new role as the 25th president of Wesleyan College. Joining Dr. Fowler for the panel discussion are two U.S. Embassy officers who have graduated from women's colleges in the United States.
March is Women's History Month in the United States. Many events in March at the Beijing American Center highlight and celebrate women’s contributions to culture, history, and society.
NOTE: This event is open to the general public free of charge. Audio or video recording of the program will not be permitted. Press inquiries should be directed to the U.S. Embassy Press Office.
You must bring a valid photo ID and your registration confirmation email in order to get into the Beijing American Center (BAC). Large bags will not be allowed into the program area of BAC.
You must arrive at the Embassy BAC entrance no later than half an hour of the program starting time for check in. You will NOT be admitted if you arrive half an hour after the program has started.
Attendees grant permission to the U.S. Department of State to photograph and video record their image and/or voice. Permission is granted for the U.S. Department of State to release, publish, broadcast or quote this material in public information programs and activities. Content procured may be included in future speeches, on the Internet, through multiple broadcast channels and print media. Use of content (image, audio or ideas) will not be used for commercial purposes.
For security reasons, the BAC staff reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone.
